What is the Best Spanish Course Online?

I have just been posted to Madrid for a year and would like to learn Spanish. Am looking to invest in a good spanish course which I can learn at home on my own time. Please recommend some courses that I can consider. Thank you.

I’ve had the similar experience as you when I was posted to Barcelona 2 years ago for a work assignment. Before joining I had to learn Spanish and a friend of mine introduced me to a course called Rocket Spanish. The course is well laid out, very comprehensive and best of all easy to understand.

Now I can confidently say I can speak Spanish but of course being in Barcelona made it easier to learn the language as you are surrounded by the language and culture everyday.

Hope you have a great time in Madrid!

How did You learn spanish?

Thanks for your time

As people have said, watching TV/movies in Spanish is great – but it’s best if you take it a step further. Don’t just watch and expect it to sink in. Pick one of your favorite movies, one you already know really well. Watch it in Spanish, with the English subtitles on. Listen to a phrase, pause, and then say it back.

If you can’t figure out exactly how to say it, switch to the Spanish subtitles and read it. Rewind and repeat it and say it a dozen times if you have to, so that you can say it perfect.

I live in Peru, and teach English – seriously, doing this with my students works better for pronunciation than anything else I’ve done with them. And my 10 year old son taught himself English (he only spoke Spanish before) by doing this with Star Wars – that’s where I learned the technique.

I really think it works best combined with a program, like Rosetta, which you have, so that you can learn grammar rules and WHY people form orations the way they do.

What is the Best and Most Accurate Way to Learn Spanish?

I have never taken a second language, but where I live everyone speaks spanish. Also, I hear there are different types of spanish depending on where your from so how do I learn a universal way to at least communicate on a basic level?

The best way i know is to immerse yourself in it. see if you can find a way to spend time with some people your age who speak only spanish. bring a basic vocabulary book, and forget the fact that you start out knowing nothing. there is nothing that teaches you as fast or as effectively as necessity.
